Highly collectible hand color architecture engraving from Ackerman collection 4

Basic information: Rudolph Ackermann [1764 – 1834] was born at Schneeberg, in Saxony; due to financial conditions he was unable to attend the university and became a saddler like his Father. He stayed a saddler and coach-builder in different German cities, then moved to Paris, and London, wherein 1795 he established a print-shop and drawing-school Ackermann set up a lithographic press and opened a business in copper lithographs. Ackermann was a creative and efficient publisher, who brought innovative techniques to the commercial production of color plate books as well as uncompromising attention to detail which ensured uniform high quality. Ackermann published many decorative hand-colored prints. He also oversaw a workshop where the prints he produced were colored.
