Constructions: Pellerin is one of the originators of toy paper models of any kind. They are also called structures. They are usually in color. The antique models include many French buildings, many foreign buildings but with a particular preference for buildings in the French Empire so that Indo-China and North Africa are particularly well represented. In addition to the buildings themselves, there are lots of interior rooms with furniture.
In 1796, Jean Charles Pellerin set up the “Imagerie d’Epinal” In France. Printed on Arches paper, pochoir (hand-painted using templates) woodcuts of military subjects, Napoleonic history, storybook, and folk characters, as well as flyers for businesses and political parties, alphabet literature and other educational materials, riddles, illustrated songs, and paper cutouts were widely distributed throughout the 19th century.
