Volume 2 only. A very good full leather binding. 8vo. 9.5" x 5.75" x 1.25" [2pp.]/pp.197-400. Green straight-grain morocco covered boards with ornate gilt decoration. Edges rubbed and bumped. Spine sunned, with 4 raised bands, gilt decorated compartments and gilt titles: "Duppa's Botany" ; "Vol 2." . All page edges gilt. Inner gilt dentelles. Original pink endpapers. Small armorial bookplate to verso of the front board, of a Saracen's Head, and the initials "H. I. W." Clean English text throughout. Well-illustrated with 95 very good hand-coloured plates A lovely book VG.

“Richard Duppa (1770–1831) was an English writer and a draughtsman. He was the son of William Duppa of Culmington, Shropshire. He studied art in Rome in his youth and showed himself a skilful draughtsman. He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford, 9 November 1807, aged 37 and became a student of the Middle Temple, 7 February 1810. He graduated LL.B. at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, in 1814. He wrote on botanical, artistic, and political topics and was elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. He died in Lincoln's Inn, 11 July 1831." - See Wikipedia
