Birds of Australia by Gracius I. Broinowski
This wonderful chromolithograph from Gracius Broinowski's (1837-1913) six-volume Birds of Australia, published in Melbourne, 1887-1891, and limited to 1000 copies. At the age of 20, Broinowski left Poland to avoid conscription and seek his fortune in the Australian gold fields. After trying his hand at various rural trades, he eventually turned to painting as he wandered the countryside. The age toning on this print is very minor and quite even. All margins including plate marking are present. Garcuis prints are rare and hard to find these days so far I have seen few online. This is an original print and in almost perfect condition!!!
