Coloured copper engraving on paper.
After a presentation by François Nicolas Martinet (1731 - 1804). Full-length side view of four exotic passerines with their main characteristics and identification. On the lower margin there are two standards.
Below the picture the sheet in the printing plate is signed by the artist. Among the French-speaking Legend is on illustrated birds: "Gobe-Mouche horn de Madagascar", "Le Pique-B ?? uf", "Etourneau du Cap de Bonne Espérance" and "Paon de Mer".
The view is from the ornithological work Histoire naturelle, générale et particulière. Histoire naturelle des oiseaux by Georges-Louis Leclerc Buffon from between 1770 and 1783 can be found there as table XLIII.

Very good condition. The entire leaf is slightly wavy. Along the edges faint brown discoloration are visible. Along the left edge are slight damage determine derived from the disentanglement of the page from the book binding. The presentation makes an impeccable impression. The colors are fresh condition.
