David Dietrich (1800-1888)
was an important figure in 19th-century German botany. Although he has published about a dozen important botanical works over a period of more than thirty years, he is most famous as the publisher of the monumental and finely illustrated "Flora Universalis". This work, which appeared between 1831 and 1861, was published in more than 450 parts of 10 plates each, for a total of more than 4500 plates. It is too rare to find a complete copy of the market.
