This is obsoultely a rare selection of 9 coloured wood engravings of trout, grayling, sea trout & salmon, are from a special reprint of Rev. William Houghton’s classic 1879 two-volume set, “British Freshwater Fishes"
They were presented as presentation prints for the publication, “The Angler,” during the late nineteenth century by the distinguished printers, E.T.W. Dennis of Scarborough
The original illustrations were superbly drawn from nature by watercolour artist, Alexandra Francis Lydon, and produced by Benjamin Fawcett, one of the country’s finest nineteenth century colour printers
Their famous collaboration, lasting over 30 years, resulted in illustrating many memorable natural history works including the beautiful plates for Couch’s “A History of British Fishes”
